Private IP Addresses in Apache Logs
Private IP Addresses in Apache Logs
I'm currently running into an issue where I'm getting IP addresses that are reserved for private networks in my Apache logs. For example, some user IP addresses being logged are public ones such as 116.x.x.x or 99.x.x.x which is normal. But then there are some IP addresses being logged that are 240.x.x.x, 246.x.x.x, or 252.x.x.x. This is happening all for the same domain, meaning, the same domain is showing visitors from public IPs as well as visitors from private IPs. It makes it impossible (or at least not very good practice) to blacklist offending users' IP when their IP is being logged as the private IP. Why is this occurring and how can I fix this?
