What is going on guys?

They must be busy making a commercial version of Vesta, its the only explanation. I've been thinking about making my own distribution if things go south.

I believe they are struggling keeping this project alive from the financial perspective.
Their team is small, only few of them speak English publicly, maybe they won't even welcome any new members.
It would be better if they would offer paid additional modules like file manager, keeping main system open source.
Also their support pricing is weird, it would be more popular to have 10$ for one time incident, and subscriptions.
I am tired of "don't worry, this will be fixed in next release", which we wait for months.
Currently best alternative i see is ISPconfig, maybe it's time to make a switch?

Yea but it's an open source project which means anyone can contribute. If they need help they need to pass the torch. If they need money for a particular thing they should ask for donations I would be glad to donate.
The way I see it is, they are running a business or running a open source project. You can't be both. I know they use GPL v3 license but there website is unclear since it says this is open source. But I think it's sad that there isn't any activity in this project.
I like your idea about support if you want to make cash provide paid support.
I would go with ISPconfig but I don't like their Web API, I rather fix VestaCP my self, most of it is simple stuff.
Another thing thats not right is what if I already have a file manager that I created for VestaCP, would VestaCP want to incorporate it into there Panel? What if I created a ticket system, etc. I mean basically once they start charging for stuff like file mangers other great things that could be contributed would be shutdown since they might want make there own version for profit.
But yea I would appreciate if they would come on here and clear things up.

They can ask for donation like piwik does. After the install you see deletable widget where you can donate and after an update you see a page with a donation option. It would give them maybe more breathing space and it isn't annoying.

I wouldn't mind donating to a project like this.

Well if the original devs won't show any effort it would be a shame for this project to die. Of course forking would be best solution to continue working on this superb panel.
In my opinion, only 2 OS should be supported: Debian (Ubuntu) And Centos (RHEL). Those are most popular and fewer would give more time to each one.
I have tried installing VestaCP on Debian Wheezy yesterday, oh boy, failed multiple times.
