Transferring Mail Accounts
Transferring Mail Accounts
Hello everyone,
I've been using VestaCP for the past year, after using cPanel and Plesk in the past to manage my clients pages and so on.
Up to the moment I never had to transfer massive email accounts but at the moment this is what I have to do and i'm a bit stuck. Since I do not have any experience in doing so and can't find any guides online can you please guide me in how to do the following?
2 scenarios:
1) Transfer emails accounts, with their mails, out of vestacp to cpanel
2) Transfer email accounts, with their mails, out of cpanel to vesta
All your help will be greatly appreaciated

Re: Transferring Mail Accounts
Hi!
First want to thank you all for this amazing tool!
We've done such of migration last week, importing about 14 cPanel email accounts to vesta.
Its working great.
As long as you are using exim mail server, this must work smoothly.
The solution:
1. Create a cPanel full back-up
2. copy that gz file to vesta server
3. unarchive this file into temp folder
4. onto vesta panel, create email accounts for that domain with the same name
5. login into each account (exim will create the mail structure)
6. copy from the cPanel archive to vesta mail location of each account just the: .cur folder (if you want to have the Send mails, you need to copy that too)
Hope this will help you, I'm thinking of creating an tool for that.
Take care about other files from cPanel archive, you don't need to copy those files, just the content of .cur folder.
Regards

Re: Transferring Mail Accounts
I'd tried this but when I get to step #5
I can't seem to see any users in the mail folder. Even though I've logged into roundcube etc.
It seems as though the Vestacp is having 9.8.15 e-mail set up issues along with outgoing ports.
Anyone else have this problem and found a fix?

Off topic:
imapsync is great tool for transfering and syncing two imap accounts - http://imapsync.lamiral.info/
I'm using it for transfering and syncing mail accounts between two servers.
You can get it free via github... but I payed it anyway, because software is really great.
