SSL not applied to vestacp admin page port 8083
SSL not applied to vestacp admin page port 8083
Hi Folks,
I have vestacp installed and would like to add SSL to the admin portal so that users are not prompted with the browser message advising the site is not secure, etc, etc.
I have used Comodo for the SSL certificate and managed to install correctly by looking at what the other users did in the forum.
I receive a secure page when I use:
https://www.myvestacpserver.com
https://myvestacpserver.com
https://www.myvestacpserver.com/webmail
but when i use:
https://www.myvestacpserver.com:8083 or https://myvestacpserver.com:8083 it fails can gives me the site is not secure warning.
Why is that? I understand that I have a single domain certificate (not wildcard) and it should be OK.
FYI, when I login into my admin portal in VestaCP, under the "web" tab, I have 2 domains
default.domain
myvestacpserver.com
The configuration for myvestacpserver.com is:
Apache Template: default
SSL Support: yes
Web Statistics: awstats
Nginx Support: yes
Nginx Template: default
Nginx Extensions: jpeg, jpg, png, gif, bmp, ico, ...
Additional FTP: no
The configuration for default.domain is:
Apache Template: default
SSL Support: no
Web Statistics: no
Nginx Support: no
Nginx Template:
Nginx Extensions:
Additional FTP: no
All advise is appreciated.
Thanks
phez

Re: SSL not applied to vestacp admin page port 8083
Yes, its helped, tnx.
Summery for me about this issue:
1) Rename ssl certificate files to certificate.crt and certificate.key, first one is a bundle.
2) Upload them via SFTP to /usr/local/vesta/ssl/
3) In /usr/local/vesta/nginx/conf/nginx.conf change ssl_ciphers to:
ssl_ciphers ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384:ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256:DHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384:DHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256:ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA384:ECDHE-RSA-AES128-SHA256:ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA:ECDHE-RSA-AES128-SHA:DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA256:DHE-RSA-AES128-SHA256:DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA:DHE-RSA-AES128-SHA:ECDHE-RSA-DES-CBC3-SHA:EDH-RSA-DES-CBC3-SHA:AES256-GCM-SHA384:AES128-GCM-SHA256:AES256-SHA256:AES128-SHA256:AES256-SHA:AES128-SHA:DES-CBC3-SHA:HIGH:!aNULL:!eNULL:!EXPORT:!DES:!MD5:!PSK:!RC4;
4) Reboot
And it works for me.
Ubuntu 14, latest Vesta CP with Nginx+Apache.
Re: SSL not applied to vestacp admin page port 8083
Or you can modify /usr/local/vesta/nginx/conf/nginx.conf and add path to existing certificate
and just restart vesta service -> service vesta restart
Code: Select all
ssl_certificate /home/user/conf/web/ssl.domain.com.pem;
ssl_certificate_key /home/user/conf/web/ssl.domain.com.key;
