You need to contact the hosting company as they will have the ability to set up a PTR record. Also look into your VPS control panel and it might be there - it's called "Reverse DNS"

Your hosting company is the only one who can set up a PTR record for you unless it's somewhere in your control panel. Virtual Private Servers usually come with this in their control panel and Dedicated Servers usually don't.

You only need 1 for the dedicated server hostname.... example:

dedicated server = hostname.mydomain.com

ptr = hostname.mydomain.com -> IP address

When people connect to your e-mail server, if that responds with hostname.mydomain.com then you must set up a PTR for hostname.mydomain.com

Congrats!

To make sure it is correctly set up (wait a few hours) and try entering your domain name here: http://www.dnsinspect.com/

I've got the same problem.
I checked my domain using dnsinspect.com and my domain passd mx and mail tests for 100%.
the ptr record is going to my domain like that: mydomain.zone
should I ask my provider to change it to hostname.mydomain.zone?
or there is no big difference?..
Please help I do not have any idea why all of my emails goes to spam in gmail.
I checked my IP address is not blacklisted at all.
Thank you for any help.
