Custom Name Server - Not able to make it work.
Hi,
I have gone through Documentation. And followed the steps there. But I am not able to make it work.
Can someone share how to setup custom name server for my vesta powered VPS.
Again I already tried the method provided in Documentation.
Please help.
I love Vesta and using it on 5 VPS right now. Till now I was using Cloudflare for my DNS. Please help.

Create Host names for custom nameservers at your domain registrar for yourdomain.com.
ns1.yourdomain.com > point to your VPS IP
ns2.yourdomain.com > point to your VPS IP
Allow some time for this to update. This may even take upto 24 hours.
Step 2:
At your domain registrar, now change nameservers for yourdomain.com to ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com.
Allow some time for this to update. This may even take upto 24 hours.
Step 3:
Inside VestaCP, set the custom nameservers by editing the default package and any other package that you want to use.
Step 4:
Inside VestaCP, go to DNS menu and click "EDIT" for yourdomain.com and change the template to "child-ns".
Done. The whole process may take upto 24 hours to work properly.

Re: Custom Name Server - Not able to make it work.
Thanks much for response. I am still trying. I think I should now wait for 24 hours before jumping to next step.
Re: Custom Name Server - Not able to make it work.
In my case, the whole process took about 1.5 hours to update. My domain registrar is godaddy. Also don't forget to do a server reboot after Step 4, just in case. Hope this works for you :)
Re: Custom Name Server - Not able to make it work.
I was try to do this, but unsuccessful, who can help me? How can i create 1 dns server for all domains?
Re: Custom Name Server - Not able to make it work.
Hi fellow experts. My domain registrar is namecheap & my domain let say, example.com
In namecheap dashboard, at "advanced dns" I put 2 nameserver & point to my ip,
ns1.example.com > server ip
ns2.example.com > server ip
Then I go to "domain" tab in namecheap & try to assign both nameserver to a domain but it show error. Is this because the nameserver not yet propagate with my server ip? Or, did I do the steps wrong?

Re: Custom Name Server - Not able to make it work.
Oh sorry, wrong questions. Need a clarify.
Now I can add custom dns at namecheap.
The step I made, create 2 A record at your domain registrar, ns1 & ns2, both pointing to my server ip > assign ns1 & ns2 as your domain's dns > assign ns1 & ns2 as your hosting dns at vestacp.
Is this correct?
Btw, can I use namecheap's default dns. At vestacp, I put NC's default dns on my domain hosting. Will this also work?
