Problems with dns  Topic is solved

Postby leomolinas » Wed Nov 01, 2017 3:19 am

I have an aws instance running on Debian GNU / Linux 8, the problem I have is that I can not and do not configure a DNS for all my websites "for example: vesta default DNS, which does not work". The documentation that I have been able to read explains only to enrich the domain to vesta by assigning the ip in the domain provider, but what I want is to only enter a dns to the provider without intermediating with the ip.

Can someone explain to me what configuration I should perform?

PD: my English is very bad

Well, I did not understand very clear what you want, but I guess you can use DNS of your registrar to host your DNS zone there. Then just change A record of your Domain(s) to point to your VestaCP server's IP. Should be easy and straightforward setup. This way you won't be using/needing DNS on VestaCP Server

I know they can use a simple A record, but some hosting providers have their own nameservers? E.g. ns1.host.tld and ns2.host.tld and everything then just works So how do I do this?

Hello, I have a server amazon web service "aws" running VestaCP. How can people now point their domain to it? I know they can use a simple A record, but some hosting providers have their own nameservers? E.g. ns1.host.tld and ns2.host.tld and everything then just works So how do I do this?

why open a similar thread while you already had this open here ?
-----Thread merged------
You need to manage and create your DNS zones where you host your DNS.
You can host your DNS at
1. your domain registrars's site (godaddy, namecheap, etc.)
or
2. you hosting provider's side (Digital ocean/linode/bluehost/etc.
If you use option 2, you need to change your DNS server for the doamin in your Registrar side to point to your hosting provider's NameServers.

Clear as mud ?

if you have your domain's DNS pointed to hosting provider's DNS, then you need to set your A records inside the hosting provider's DNS management panel.

What is your domain registrar ?? GoDaddy or someone else ? Name it and I'll show you around the exact way
