Softaculous

Postby KeiroD » Mon Nov 25, 2013 7:51 pm

Hi.

It'd be awesome if we can get Softaculous integrated into VestaCP. Here's the documentation from Softaculous to do that:

http://softaculous.com/docs/Custom_Integration

I would set it up similarly to what cPanel/Softaculous integration has set up.

It is! It makes integrating Softaculous very easy... at least, at first blush. I would check out cPanel's softaculous integration and see exactly how they have it done.

I mean, I have used it as a server admin and would dearly love to use it here in VestaCP as well. I suspect that integrating this would make VestaCP one of the very few panels that have Softaculous support.

ZPanel doesn't even have Softaculous support, so... you might gain an advantage in that aspect.

Pricing
The pricing for custom based integrations is $0.1/month/user with minimum $100/month in billing.

Hmmm, wouldn't the pricing be problematic?

Good question. I'm not entirely sure if it would be problematic or not.

I would have to defer to the VestaCP developers with regards to that. I don't know if it's a specific Softaculous install app for a given app like WordPress, for example... or if it means it's the entire integration for the control panel, such as the cPanel + Softaculous integration.

Might be better to see if there's an open source package installer and make an agreement or mod to merge the two.

Anyone actually got Softaculous or likewise integrated with VestaCP ?

If so, any possibility to share some more information on how to get it done?

Any help is appreciated :)

I'm very interested in either Installatron or Softaculous. Right now, it's stopping me from implementing VestaCP at a web hosting company. If anyone can add support for either of them, it would be an awesome feature addition to Vesta project as a whole.
Thank you.

Pretty much, this is what you want as a free script installer: http://www.simplescripts.com and http://www.simplescripts.com/webhost
