Do you publish MD5 hashes of installer files of each version somewhere or in release notes?
Let's say, if MD5 hashes of installer files uploaded to Github, everyone can help to track if the installer files got changed unintentionally.

Try this:
Under your client's public_(s)html folder, create .well-known/index.html and .well-known/acme-challenge/index.html
(don't miss the dot, and just some plain text in index.html would be fine)

I actually choose Debian instead of Ubuntu, because latest Debian's still using PHP5.6 at this moment.
