FTP failing: 200 PORT command successful. Consider using PASV. 425 Failed to establish connection
I use common linux/unix command line ftp to ftp files to/from my vesta host from my Linuxmint desktop. This has worked for many years, at least up until a couple weeks ago. Without accessing VestaCP or making any system changes via SSH it just started failing: ~/Desktop$ ftp server_name.xyz Connecte...

Cron <admin@host> sudo /usr/local/vesta/bin/v-update-sys-vesta-all
Several weeks back I started receiving nightly cron messages from VestaCP Subject: Cron <admin@host> sudo /usr/local/vesta/bin/v-update-sys-vesta-all Date: Fri, 12 Nov 2021 05:11:01 -0700 From: (Cron Daemon) <admin@host.$myhost> To: my-email-address /usr/local/vesta/bin/v-update-sys-vesta: line 41: ...

Re: Error: Login with root has been disabled - when attempting to access the control panel
I have been using root since the beginning, about 3 years ago for me, to access the control panel. It's only within the past couple weeks since an update, I guess, that it is now failing. If I attempt to sign in as admin the error message is: Invalid username or password. That being said, how do I f...

Error: Login with root has been disabled - when attempting to access the control panel
I last signed into the control panel about 2 weeks back. It was fine. This AM I tried and am unable to sign in, see the error: Login with root has been disabled. It appears to be an updated UI for the Login form. I have 2 VPS accounts running Vesta and the problem affects both. About 2 weeks ago one...

Re: Cannot SSH to account after 3 failed attempts
I understand the purpose however I would like to know how to do this. I found the file: /etc/fail2ban/jail.conf The ban time appears to be 3600 seconds which is fine. I don't understand the syntax and correct entry where to make a change, for instance to 5 attempts for an http access or perhaps ssh....

How do you configure VestaCP to recognize pear and not return an open_basedir error?
I have a CentOS VestaCP installation and have been trying to get SMTP mail to work so that it can be used with various forms. I checked and pear is installed under /usr/share/pear. I found a guide to check if pear is installed correctly, https://pear.php.net/manual/en/installation.checking.php, whic...

I updated the php.ini file setting open_basedir as follows and restarting Apache: open_basedir = /srv/http/:/home/:/tmp/:/usr/share/pear/:/usr/share/webapps/ Warning: require_once(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/usr/share/pear/System.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/testin...

SMTP | Warning: require_once(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/usr/share/pear/System.php) is not within ...
I am a novice with SMTP, found some instructions to both install SMTP and PEAR. The install looks good. When I get around to testing to see if they work I have a short test script with these includes: require_once 'System.php'; var_dump(class_exists('System', false)); require_once "Mail.php"; System...

Add/remove IP address to firewall
Either through the control panel or command line (cli?) or both, what are the procedures to add or remove an IP address in the firewall. Also to review what's currently there (as root) The default behavior seems to be to block an IP after several attempts then you have to wait an hour or so for it t...
