Just adding a me-too on this - I favour Ubuntu for server installs because of the predictable LTS release/support schedule. Am a big fan of Vesta and have a couple of new installs to do soon so am very keen to see 16.04 support. (Not really bothered about interim versions between LTS.)

Although I forget which, I've seen this facility in other mail servers. I think when used, it's usually for audit/accountability purposes - ie where legally (or as policy) a company has to keep copies of every email - even if the sender deletes it etc.
