Backup retention policies
Does anyone know how many backups Vesta retains before deleting them? My disk space is very precious and I'd like to know how I can set a policy to only have 3 or 4 days worth of backups at any one time. I was thinking about running a cron job to remove old backups but I'm hoping there's a more effe...

Re: Vesta firewall and UFW conflct?
I used UFW and VestaCP, but in the end I shut down ufw. UFW used iptables, VestaCP used iptables too. Believe me, you don't need two interfaces to edit one service - iptables. Agreed. iptables is extremely sensitive. Vesta already uses it's own way of editing iptables (config files are here: /usr/l...

Re: Not getting very far
Well, I've just managed to get it up and running! I had a feeling and went with it... It installed without a problem on a 32-bit OS. Previously, I've only tried installing on 64-bit builds of Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. I have no idea why that's making a difference at the moment but for some reason i...

Re: Not getting very far
The response I'm getting halfway through the installation is this: Error: email **********@gmail.com is not valid Error: can't create admin user And you don't have user "admin"? Check please -> cat /etc/passwd Thanks. No, it's not in there so there doesn't appear to be a conflict. Something is just...

Re: Not getting very far
Thanks. I've PM'd over the details. This is what I'm doing after a fresh install of the OS: printf "nameserver 8.8.4.4\nnameserver 8.8.8.8" > /etc/resolv.conf apt-get remove bind9 bind9* && apt-get remove --purge bind9 apt-get remove apache2 apache2* && apt-get remove --purge apache2* rm -fr /etc/ap...

Re: Catastrophic Vesta Failure after Apt-get update
Can you check the open file limit?
Should give you a load of readouts. Please look for the line that starts with "open files" and post here.
Code: Select all
sudo -u mysql bash
ulimit -a

Re: Catastrophic Vesta Failure after Apt-get update
http://i.imgur.com/7oeQd4O.jpg DONT UPDATE MYSQL OR YOU VESTA WILL FAIL Error 24 and "can't open file" usually mean that there are too many files open (the open file limit may be set too low). Have you tried adding the following to /etc/my.cnf: [mysqld] open_files_limit = 100000 Make sure you resta...

Re: Not getting very far
Thank you. I wish it was that simple! I have 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as nameservers in my resolv.conf file and I've also tried with opendns (208.67.220.220 & 208.67.222.222) just in case. I've also tried with a gmail and outlook account without success. There appears to be no dns issue as I am able to r...
