I've got the same problem running vesta on debian jessie. Strange enough a new additional ftp user is created but can't login until I change /usr/sbin/nologin to /bin/bash in /etc/passwd. And I am surely using ftp, not sftp.

I'm on version: 0.9.8, release 15.
File /usr/local/vesta/bin/v-add-mail-account-fwd-only now has this code:

32Mb is too little for WordPress - woocommerce e.g. won't install and I had problems with other plugins (wordfence, backupbuddy) as well because of the memory limit. I increased it to 96Mb and that seems to work fine.
Perhaps a WP-template might be an idea?
