Re: What are the NGINX web templates for?
NGINX uses web templates similar to Apache. The way VestaCP works is having pre-setup templates for certain environments. So you don't have to spend a lot of time coding the perfect webserver configuration from scratch (as some of us did back in the days prior to VestaCP). The difference between wor...

Re: Stop Deleting Backups in FTP
You can change the VestaCP backup frequency in your control panel. Click your user ('admin' for example) and press "CRON" in the top menu (not the black but white bar). Then find "sudo /usr/local/vesta/bin/v-backup-users", hover with the mouse of that entry and press the grey "edit" entry. And you s...

VestaCP generates insecure passwords for new databases?
Currently migrating one of my WP projects from a VPS with VestaCP, to a shared hosting account with Plesk. And as I don't feel like changing the wp-config.php using the same passwords for the MySQL DB as I had in VestaCP. But ... I get a notice how the password difficulty is only average. Hmz .. oka...

Re: Idiots guide to Lets Encrypt?
Yah it depends on if you use cloudflare (or not). In case you do, create this page rule: *example.com/.well-known/acme-challenge/* with SSL off (which refers to CloudFlare's SSL btw). Otherwise it will only work when you change cloudflare to flex SSL during issuing the certificate. And when it comes...

Re: [GUIDE] How to replace phpMyAdmin by Adminer in Ubuntu 16.04 NGINX php-fpm
Tip: Instead of having to run:
manually at each and every update -- of which there have been two after creating the 1st post -- it's easier to create a cronjob for it. ;-)
Code: Select all
sudo wget "https://www.adminer.org/latest.php" -O /usr/share/adminer/latest.php

Re: [GUIDE] WordPress at Ubuntu 16.04 NGINX PHP(7)-FPM + Redis Object caching FIX == FTL
Another reason my complex WP projects (of 100+ plugins each) have snappy loading and response times ain't just due to Redis (+ all 'bonus' tips), but due to fine-tuning of PHP-FPM's process manager configuration. Preview of a memo I wrote to myself a couple of months ago. The culprit is in /usr/loca...

Re: Nginx Caching Wordpress
1. Redis working with w3-total-cache. Instruction: https://forum.vestacp.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=14647&p=63637&hilit=redis#p63637 You can probably find better instruction online. The point here is that, non of the two options are standard template in Vesta. You want to copy/duplicate wordpress2 te...

Re: Add button to redirect http to https
you can do that with a cloudflare page rule too. Long before there was such a template in VestaCP. And cloudflare is useful for other things when it comes to loadbalancing and security. Although I do agree adding such a feature in VestaCP could be useful.

Re: F*CK !!! Please help me TROUBLESHOOT public_html/megla.txt - "hacked by megla akash from Team_CC"
potential problems are no problem ;-) What IS a real-world problem, is the default wordpress2.tpl and wordpress2.stpl of VestaCP. Here's the up-to-date solution: https://forum.vestacp.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=13668&p=68082#p68082 And just in case you wonder on the performance impact of that many plu...
