We are happy to announce that Vesta is back under active development as of 25 February 2024. We are working on v1 candidate and expect to engage more with the community over the coming months. We are committed to open source, and we encourage contributors to help us build the future of Vesta.

Re: PHP version compatibility
Once again ... Vesta uses its own version of php which is separate from the one the OS uses. It is installed in /usr/local/vesta/php/. That is the 5.6 version currently, which some people in these forums argue is due for an update. Installing 7.0,2,3,4 on your OS has zero effect on Vesta. It will co...

Re: PHP version compatibility
Quick answer is that Vesta uses its own version of PHP. You can install any PHP supported by your operating system. On Ubuntu 18 (which your profile says you're using), the default is 7.2. (apt install php7.2 + modules). You can install more updated 7.2 and 7.3 from https://launchpad.net/~ondrej/+ar...

Re: Vesta future
Automatic HTTP-to-HTTPS redirection and HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) You can write your own nginx / apache templates to include these functions if you like. Basic idea is take the default template in the vesta directory, copy it to another name, eg mytemplate.tpl and mytemplate.stpl, make ...

Re: nginx failing to restart since last night
Guess I should have suggested to try testing the vesta config too,
nginx -t -c /usr/local/vesta/nginx/conf/nginx.conf
But anyway it seems that all is good now.

Re: nginx failing to restart since last night
Does 'nginx -t' show any errors? It will test the nginx config. nginx -t nginx: the configuration file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf syntax is ok nginx: configuration file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf test is successful Also another thing comes to mind ... Vesta CP uses two nginx processes. One as the proxy in fro...

Re: Configuring Backups
Did you find the backup exclusions button?
Its possible to exclude user directories, whole websites, databases. The page gives you example syntax.

Re: How to enable Wilcdard SSL LE?
I'm not certain, but I think you might have to be using your VestaCP box as your DNS server in order to use the wildcard feature. As I understand it, LE wildcard SSL can only be issued by publishing DNS records. If your DNS is hosted elsewhere, then the script isn't able to interact with that. Does ...

Re: Lost SSL after updating aliases (nginx failed to restart)
So what did these say when you logged in and typed the commands at the command prompt? It's best to do it immediately after the failure.
You might also find some clues in /var/log/apache2/domains/track.site.com.error.log

Re: Slow storage area
Not functional in many cases. As I wrote, the way you suggest forces the server administrator (with ssh root access) to make a symlink of the mail dir each time a new user is created. How often do you create new users? Surely it's not too hard to spend ten seconds linking the directory when you do?...
