Restore backup on local machine?

Hello there.

First of all i'm not an expert (more a dummie i'd say) so please be patient with me.

I had some sites running on a vps. Unfortunatly i stoped the hosting service before i build a new vps on another host.

Here's the deal so: The only I took was a full backup of vesta, now i want to restore it so i could export databases from 4 of the sites. The backup file is about 3gb!

I only want to export the databases cause i'm going to host them in cloud till i decide to build a vps again.

What is the best and easiest way to do?

Should i use another vps to restore or may i can do it using a VM in my pc?
