Hostname must be registered at registrar?

I install VestaCP and i provide a hostname.
I put host1.mydomain.com

Is mandatory to register at domain registrar a nameserver "host1" pointing to server IP address ?

Also a shared webhosting would be a option, instead running a whole server on your own. Such a server needs knowledge in Linux, related services and also security.

I have read it and it looks that must be a DNS record at registrar pointing to server IP. In these docs doesnt write short an clearly the answer to my question.

I understand that hostname is used to identify server in a network (for ex. in a datacenter).

I am not sure 100% if is mandatory, that's i ask a more experienced person.

Note:
Whatever domain name you enter when installing Vesta will be used for the URL of the Vesta control panel. If you are using Vesta to setup a website for example.com, do not use example.com during the installation process. Use panel.example.com and then setup the example.com website domain using the Vesta control panel.
