Difference between Centos 7x and Ubuntu 18x install

When I set my private nameservers to example example.my-website.org and then run intstall for Centos it shows the hostname as the domain once install completes on Centos, but not on Ubuntu. On Ubuntu it only shows the ip as the hostname after running install, why is that? It makes it more difficult for me to install multiple instances of Ubuntu quickly as I have to set the ip to the hostname after.
