Nope, IRC it's a little old school and need too many attention.nmpribeiro wrote:How about a VestaCP IRC channel on freenode?
This forum and bugs, and code - they eat up all our time. ;-)
IRC looks good for chat, not disscuss or paste config parts. (for my opinion)

Every media channel has it's pro and cons. I'm sure there are people that will be interested. And above all, it's cool to have instantaneous feedback and do stuff just because we chatted about.
Many newcomers can be redirected to the proper issues on this forum... the world needs them both: chatters and doers.
You can decide weather to spend time there or not. It's up to you.

Re: Vesta IRC channel?
W00t? IRC is absolutely not old school IMHO. I follow/support/contribute to a couple of FOSS projects and ALL of them have one or several IRC channels either Freenode, oftc.net etc. Some of the project even got multiple channels like #myproject, #myproject-dev, #myproject-testing etc. I myself have been witness to growth of channel users from 20-30 to ~ 500 now.
It's been a great way to communicate with other user instantaneously as being pointed out here. You don't necessarily need to use your valuable time there if you don't have it. Let other community members do it, when they are time for such :)
And we don't paste config and the likes on IRC of course, we use paste bin services like fpaste.org/pastebin.org.
So @nmpribeiro's suggestion is a great one and you'll quickly realize how useful such a channel(s) becomes.

You're right, every media channel has pro and cons, but there is one thing - time.nmpribeiro wrote:Every media channel has it's pro and cons. I'm sure there are people that will be interested. Let's see:
- Forum
- Github
- Bugtracker
...
and where get time for all this or so big support team for this? :))
No, I don't think chat it's a waste, but it's clearly time-killer. (for my opinion, chat need more attention all time)nmpribeiro wrote:You can decide weather to spend time there or not. It's up to you.

Ok, I'll be more concrete, do you have candidates for this? ;-)fossxplorer wrote: It's been a great way to communicate with other user instantaneously as being pointed out here.
