Have the Website and Mail Accounts in separate VESTA Hosts
Have the Website and Mail Accounts in separate VESTA Hosts
Hi,
Let's say that I have a website under the domain http://www.abcd.com and an email account [email protected]
I also have two VESTA panel accounts. The VESTA accounts are hosted in the same dedicated server. They also share the same Public Static IPv4 address.
I want to have the website hosted on the 1st VESTA account, and the email account on the 2nd VESTA account. Is that possible?
I can see that I can add/remove domains on the <WEB> and on the <MAIL> sections of VESTA separately, but when I try to put the domain in the <WEB> section of the 1st VESTA account, and then put the same domain in the <MAIL> section of the 2nd VESTA account, I get an error that the domain exists.
1st VESTA Account: WEB domain= abcd.com , MAIL domain= none
2nd VESTA Account: WEB domain= none , MAIL domain= abcd.com <Error: domain abcd.com exist>
Please help!!!

I don't think that this is possible. (Security reason)

Hi,
Thank you for the prompt reply, this is much appreciated.
What is the security reason exactly though?
It's not abnormal pointing the domain A record (web) and MX record (mail) to different servers.
Is there really no way around this?

I am using two virtual servers with vesta one for web hosting and other for emails its working fine, in vesta you can not create duplicate domain even with other user.
Re: Have the Website and Mail Accounts in separate VESTA Hosts
Hi hafeezksa,
How did you achieve this setup?
Let me give you a description of my setup right now.
- The domain is bought with GoDaddy.
- The domain has been pointed to the Public IP of the dedicated server that has VESTA setup
- On the Dedicated server there are 2 Vesta Host Accounts. They share the same Public IP address
- Host 1 has the domain with the website and a few email accounts using the same domain
- Host 2 has been created to move the website to it
How can I move the website with the same domain, while leaving the email accounts intact in the other Vesta host?

Re: Have the Website and Mail Accounts in separate VESTA Hosts
It's possible to achieve this on 2 servers, but you can't add the same domain to 2 users on 1 server.
