Logging in as root
Logging in as root
Hi, I recently came across Vesta (i have been using v/min) and quite like the interface and nginx support. Good work guys. :-)
I'm wondering about logging in as the root user. I generally disable ssh access to my VPS's and am wondering whether the Vesta process is to create a super-user Vesta account, or is it the case that I am still able to login to Vesta CP once ssh access has been removed for root.
If I should create a super-user, how is that different from creating a normal user (or do all Vesta users have admin privileges)?
many thanks

Re: Logging in as root
Only 'admin' has sudo usage for root. It's not possible to login via root on the web interface.
If you're using SSH then it's possible, and it's up to you to disable it.

Re: Logging in as root
if it is just you who operates the server, you can enable bash login to your admin account and then configure SSH keys for it. you will then login via SSH as admin and perform any actions.
If this server is shared for other users, for added security you can make a non-root prvilideged user and enable SSH keys for that user to login via SSH.
