In most cases it will not brake anything.

ClamAV will have some issues like "unversion" warning (debian/ubuntu repo are really slow to get latest version) and some issues with permissions (to save logs).
If you got update alerts like "you need to update clamav", dont worry, the virus database is still updating and mantain your system free of virus (Except ramsonware, every months are one or two new and it will undetectable by the others antivirus anyway).
