We are happy to announce that Vesta is back under active development as of 25 February 2024. We are working on v1 candidate and expect to engage more with the community over the coming months. We are committed to open source, and we encourage contributors to help us build the future of Vesta.
Please have VestaCP version numbers
Please have VestaCP version numbers
First of all, I would like to thank vestaCP team for amazing Control Panel, please don't take this post negative way. we all appreciate vestaCP teams hard work. we know that building a stable software takes years. we are not far away from the day when vestaCP will be matured as cPanel.
Currently, in every version there are some new bugs, while vestaCP team trying to eliminate the old bugs in the new version, sometimes new bugs get produced unintentionally.
Those of us using vestaCP for hosting business having a nightmare with it. every time we make an update vestaCP users complaints ticket soar up. for example, in the current version vestaCP shows default pages instead of domain contents.
it would be nice to have the option to revert back to old version or choose a version number before making an update or fresh installation. this way we can have more stable vestaCP and save time from dealing with user complaints and bug hunting.
thank you

Re: Please have VestaCP version numbers
I agree with you. And we are working hard to make vesta better.
But if you're using vesta for your business, why you should update immediately to the newest version? I have also a business running with vesta servers and I have some test servers to test new versions first before I install the new updates.

Re: Please have VestaCP version numbers
what would you do when you have a new server? how would you install previous stable version?
there is no option left. vestaCP team wouldn't give us the opportunity to choose.
everytime I install vestaCP in the new server, new version of vestaCP get installed. and this time new version of vestaCP causing lots of headache to my customers.

Re: Please have VestaCP version numbers
You are right. But you can always download an older version from Github. And you have the same problems with all other software on your server ... (Apache, Nginx, ...) You can't easily choose wich version you have installed.

How do I install the previous version from Github?
I had a look at https://github.com/serghey-rodin/vesta
but I can't seem to find the way to pull the previous version from there.
Any tips would help.
Thank you in advanced.

Re: Please have VestaCP version numbers
Vesta CP doesn't use Tagging or release on github :( so you need to search to the commits.
I think that this is version 0.9.8-15
https://github.com/serghey-rodin/vesta/ ... c95d2a9d57
You can download this files and replace them with /usr/local/vestacp.
Going back to an older version is not recommended! Changing files and configs can break you install. Do not remove your data and configs! (/usr/local/vestacp/data)

Re: Please have VestaCP version numbers
I agree. It could be nice to install directly VESTACP version we need.
Recently , VestaCP change default PHP 5.4.33 to PHP 5.6.26
PHP and server is now unstable, with 403 forbbiden errors everywhere.
Upgrades should be BETA not permanent until it is stable and tested.
