Switching to vesta from bare metal, few questions
Re: Switching to vesta from bare metal, few questions
VPS is actually pretty cheap. Why don't you get like a $5 linode? Try some of these coupons: https://www.bluetailcoupon.net/20-free- ... -code.htmllehthanis wrote:Maybe someone can offer me a better solution for management that isn't VestaCP?
It may only cost you $5 than headaches. You can always upgrade to something higher afterward.
If everything work great with the new server then mysqldump from old server and restore it to the new server. It is much simpler than what you're trying to do and all only cost you $5 - with coupon you can try out for at least 3 more months free.
And even after everything, if you're still stuck on using your old server, you can reinstall it fresh and use vesta backup restore user method to restore from your new server to the old server.

That's a lot of assumptions. My website is about 110 gigabytes of art assets and a database of about 120 megabytes. I have over 20000 users and lots of traffic. I have a dedicated server for a reason.

You're actually adding more reasons for using another/separate server. Anyway, since you mentioned that you're on a dedicated server, is there any way to get more IP so you can maybe create a VPS on top of that dedicated server.lehthanis wrote:That's a lot of assumptions. Alternatively, you can also try out docker: https://github.com/niiknow/vestacp
