Add block of 4 ips from OVH
Add block of 4 ips from OVH
I have a dedicated server with 1 main ip and I bought a block of 4 ips from OVH, they gave me something like this:
I read some people telling me that I can only use 1 ip others tell 2, 3 and even 4.
I'm in Centos 7 and I have tested added the ips directly on Vesta with netmask 255.255.255.252, I can ping all except the last one the broadcast ip.
Can someone explain me how this works and how should I configured it and how many ips can I use.
Code: Select all
51.255.33.236/30
IP de rede :51.255.33.236
IP de broadcast :51.255.33.239
IP da gateway :51.255.33.238
Netmask :255.255.255.252

Re: Add block of 4 ips from OVH
Please check it with subnet calculator: http://www.subnet-calculator.com/subnet.php?net_class=A
You can use only one ip, the only one that is free - in your example 51.255.33.237. The other IPs are used for network, broadcast and gateway.

Re: Add block of 4 ips from OVH
I have managed add all 4 ips to the VPS even the broadcast ip that doesn't work initially.
I have edited the eth0:0 | eth0:1 | eth0:2 | eth0:3 files directly and added the GATEWAY ip of the current VPS.
