A dumbass question that has to be asked! Vestacp+Shared Hosting?
I have just come back to it after quite some time away using other control panels (ispconfig, Virtualmin, Centos-web panel) and i have to say, the simplicity of Vestacp and attractive interface is quite appealing to me.
I love that it works so well with WHMCS...essentially (without too much trouble) the WHMCS module worked first go for me, which is important to me and my business!
It would be good if it had some additional functionality in the GUI (ie fail2ban, permanent filemanager, a little more obvious lets encrypt interface...and probably some other things i cant think of right now),
After the almost constant stream of new and ongoing bugs in Centos-WebPanel, the complexity of Virtualmin, I am actually really enjoying Vestacp. I am a little anxious about having to use SSH a little more for the deeper configuration...that missing component in a GUI interface is a bit annoying (particularly filemanager), one feels a bit like they are driving around a new city without street directory.
HAving said the above, I think i would be quite comfortable providing this as a client VPS control panel
So the question...is it robust & secure enough to use for client shared hosting in place of cpanel?
Pros and Cons?

I think you'd be losing a lot more than $15/month in loss of potential new clients due to not having all the features that cPanel brings to the table.
If money is that short that you have to cut $15/month for one of the most essential parts of your hosting infrastructure, then I would advise you to reconsider and rethink your entire business plan.
I'd only recommend using VestaCP for your own needs, or if you plan on offering hosting for your friends and family, as a sort of a hobby, but definitely not if you plan on using web hosting services professionally...

why not use it for commercial web hosting? In reading other forum posts back in 2016 about waiting for newer releases before going production ready with hosting, i was hoping that all was well now? What are the problems specifically in Vestacp that make it unsafe for shared hosting?
for example...
I run firewall and fail2ban on other systems
i run firewall and fail2ban on Vesta
I run firewall and fail2ban on Virtualmin
I run firewall and fail2ban on Centos Web Panel
whats the difference in terms of security in these two areas exactly?
does cpanel have some magical cure for poor firewall/fail2ban configurations? Or is it just that cpanel is a bit like Nokia phones in days of old...it set the standard for user interface and no one would buy anything else...that is until iphones came out. At that point, almost overnight Nokia went broke! (i know, one cannot compare this to an iphone...)
