Safe to disable IMAP/POP and how to do it?
I have a server managed by VESTACP, I'm the only user of the server for a few websites and email hosting.
However, I do not store any email on the server and I do not access the email server via IMAP or POP. All email is forwarded to a gmail account and the server copy is deleted. I have aliases setup on those email accounts as well.
I use gmail to send outbound email through my VestaCP server by using the SMTP function of the server.
I'm constantly getting attacked by bots from Russia and China and it slows down performance of the server. Since I do not use POP or IMAP, can I just disable this on VestaCP. It will not impact how I am using my email, is this correct?
How do I disable IMAP and POP, simply disable Dovecot through the Vesta control panel? What happens upon reboot of the server, is it re-enabled? How can I tell it to stay disabled after reboot?
Thanks!!

VestaCP is vastly outdated and exploited with no security patches or updates for a long time now.
I suggest you to use HestiaCP, fork of VestaCP that is also open-source just updated, with new features and not dead as VestaCP.
I don't know why is VestaCP still up and in options to install with some hosting providers, because it shouldn't be.
HestiaCP is fork of VestaCP and you can check it out on https://hestiacp.com and join Discord for quick support or post on forum.
Most of Hestia developers are from original VestaCP team, so give them a credit and try HestiaCP, donate if you like it and support them.
Best reguards,
Nikola.
