We are happy to announce that Vesta is back under active development as of 25 February 2024. We are working on v1 candidate and expect to engage more with the community over the coming months. We are committed to open source, and we encourage contributors to help us build the future of Vesta.
Unlimited Setting
Unlimited Setting
I know previously we had requested this and was told it was being added to the feature request list.
Just wanted to know if this is still a work in progress, and when we might see it in a upcoming release.

Re: Unlimited Setting
From my understanding it's just a number limitation, you could always just use an outrageous number like 999999 instead of waiting for a unlimited option. I say this as the higher the number the less of the chance you'll have a problem and if you don't thing the number is high enough just add a few more on!
It seems you're in Charleston, I'm on the outskirts. Nice to see others from the area taking an interest!

Re: Unlimited Setting
Very true that can be done, however when you advertise unlimited bandwidth you want the package to reflect as such when consumers login to the control panel. That's really the only reason why it's an important feature. As we have several dedicated servers with unmetered connection and as such offer unlimited bandwidth with all packages.nightstryke wrote:From my understanding it's just a number limitation, you could always just use an outrageous number like 999999 instead of waiting for a unlimited option. Yeah actually I'm on the outskirts as well, in Summerville. Just put Charleston as it is what most people know around this area. And yeah I tested several of the competitors of vestacp for open-source cpanel alternatives and this without a doubt was the best.

I used to use ispCP Omega and while the forks of that EasySCP and i-MSCP are nice they're a pain to setup and configure, I had problems with VestaCP but I figured it out. It is nice and the email sends and receives very fast! :Djhewit wrote:Very true that can be done, however when you advertise unlimited bandwidth you want the package to reflect as such when consumers login to the control panel. I don't know if you have checked, but if you're going to do Web Hosting for others you should check the tutorials and guides over at WebHostingTalk they have a lot of good information on Web Hosting in General. Even if you're just doing it locally for businesses or personal it's a rather good read, though most Hosting Providers would tell you not to offer Unlimited Anything mostly as there will come a point of which your system cannot handle the load and completely die on you.
Re: Unlimited Setting
I tested with ispconfig which was in my opinion not bad, but because they excluded FTP traffic from bandwidth and several other aspects of there coding I chose to use vestacp which has been flawless. Also I'm a member of WebHostingTalk and FreeWebHostingTalk as well.nightstryke wrote:I used to use ispCP Omega and while the forks of that EasySCP and i-MSCP are nice they're a pain to setup and configure, I had problems with VestaCP but I figured it out. But in terms of not offering unlimited anything, that may be true for diskspace but bandwidth on a unmetered line will not cause any foreseeable issues. As once it caps you simply increase the speed of said unmetered line until at capacity then setup Vestacp for a multiple server setup. If configured correctly you will not run into any issues, just as a server administrator you have to watch the performance graph's and statistics to see when it's time to increase the speed of the unmetered line, and possibly add an additional server due to CPU/RAM loads. All of which VestaCP makes very easy to-do. Just my thoughts though, different industry professionals will have there own opinion on this.

Re: Unlimited Setting
ispconfig is a different flavor altogether compared to ispCP Omega. Also remember that Unmetered is not the same as Unlimited, while the bandwidth line may not be monitored as it's Unmetered you still are bound to the max port speed (10/100/1000) of the server itself. So keep that in mind. Though as I said just use a high tolerance setting until an actual unlimited option or setting is put in at a later date.
