Format of backup.excludes?

Hi!
What is the format of the "backup.excludes"?
I've tried to exclude all *.tiff and a subdir with the following backup.exclude file but didn't work:

/home/admin/web/somedomain.com/public_html/dontcopy

Backup excludes would be available in the version 0.9.8-8

yeah, it's cool.. but, how to use it? i mean, how to exclude som sites from backup? i ca't found anything in internet about it.
