FTP Backups

Hi,
I'm new to server management, can you please explain how to set up remote FTP backups on vesta?
I saw the CLI in the documentation, but I don't understand how to set it to a specific directory in FTP or even how it works.
Will I still have local backups?
If I backup remotely I see no option in vesta to import the backups, so how do I restore from a remote server?
