I am having the same issue. firewall cannot be started.
for those who wonder how firewall is, it is a basic port opening closing firewall
I don't know if it is capable of dropping flood, blocking bruteforce, etc...

There also a function called "fail2ban"
I don't know how it works but if really can be able to manage fail2ban too will be perfect because
firewall block the ports
and fail2ban blocks ips on open ports

only firewall, but not active (cannot start) at the moment.
firewall is very simple. only blocking ports. no fail2ban I guess.
