Hmm... really?

Mmm, not so gloomy. I'm with VestaCP not so long, about 4 months. All my projects on this panel now, and new will be too. I like it, simple to fix and extend as you like. I used ISPManager before, you can try it too (if you want to change CP).

PS: Sorry, but ISPConfig it's like ..sorry - pretty bad.. in my opinion - webdisign like hell, configs everywhere. It's so old-school ).

I don't really follow the development side of things at all. I'm fine with using the current version.
But I can understand why people are frustrated with the project.
It seems like the vesta team is really really bad at guesstimating the release dates, as recent history has shown, it has been quite a bit off.

My suggestion is to re-evaluate the formula in which you get the estimated release date, there must be certain factors you're leaving out. Does the team have a project manager? If not, I may be able to help out if you're interested. I am a project manager by trade.

I would like to share a comment.

I have been following very closely the movements that developers are making between their projects. Since some time ago, with the emergence of low cost clouds, self-managed and self-setups (eg DigitalOcean) many developers began to distribute their projects on multiple servers in ideal sizes, instead of using giant dedicated to accommodate all and any day losing everything in a kernel panic, or similar fatalities.

The problem with this is that, while having many units servers burning all the time, are limiting the amount of IPv4 only 1 per server, without even the option to purchase an additional IP.

With this, we can not use the DNS management VestaCP (being the great choice of low cost or no cost).

The solution of this is the use of IPv6.

With that, I want to reinforce here. There is an army of developers just waiting for the release of IPv6 feature on Vesta to follow their lives with ease that the panel provides.

I just wanted to ask, even if there is no a certain date, only to comfort our hearts, if there is any prospect of minimum spark for the release of the version that comes with IPv6?

Sorry to be asking again, but I'm really looking forward.

Thank you in advance for your attention.

Hugs.

Completely Agree with @rafael,

I'm sure the Devs have their own reasons, but I guess an intermediate version with IPV6 + nGinx only (Apache less) system will be a great "filler" for the time.

I'm myself waiting to consolidate 3 of my old VPS into one with VestaCP! running nGinx only, so waiting for the new version.

Nevertheless... This is a great Panel. I use it for production, lean mean and configurable to taste. Saying "tired of waiting for new version" is a very exaggerated statement for servers, as we create servers for years to come and once installed, VestaCP is a capable and acceptable system.

Lets hope they release it at the end of this month at least.

There are a lot of bugs and i hope that they will be fixed in this update. Then only will we be able to use it for production. At this stage, it is not suitable for production due to security issues and other bugs.

patstan:

please backup your Statement by defining "a lot of Bugs" you've encountered and the "Security issues" you observed.

Don't just spread words of "terror" without a valid discussion.

and remember, Security is a Process, not a product.

Dont get me wrong, VestaCP is currently the best free panel in the net. The bugs range from package limitations not working correctly (which can be critical if you are hosting many clients) to random issues with iptables that cause many other issues.

By no means am i saying that vestacp should be "bug free". A piece of software will always have bugs and VestaCP is doing their best.

There were a few (quiet serious) security issues posted on this forum (if you look around you might find them), specially with regards to the templates.

I am not spreading any "terror". All i am saying is that, VestaCP is not quiet ready for production. Its getting their. Once they get some money rolling in from their paid packages (which im going to buy to support them) they can hire more developers which means a far stable product.

Sorry if i upset anyone with my above comment.

//my 2 cents.

I would agree Vesta is not ready for production eviroments however it is an amazing peace of software my main concerns at the moment are security and performance. I have been having issues with memory usage with apache I'm hoping nginx only release will solve this issue.

I have waiting CentOS 7 support (it is marked as "done"), but...where it that release?
Looks like we will never see this release...

After struggling with vesta for a year, now I moved to cpanel. vesta is a great project, but not definitely for me.

cpanel costs $15 per vps, but worth every penny.it has cphulk, which works great against all types of bruteforce, it isolates accounts from eachother pretty well, one of the most important thing for me; I can limit the number of outgoing mail per domain basis like 50 mails per hour with 3-4 clicks.

it was a very bad experience for me (I am not an experienced linux admin) with vesta. I was about to pull my hair off in difficult times, because vesta did not give any option for me to arrange things from administration interface.

everything (besides creating accounts) had to be done from console (I suck at that) in terms of security.

when people asked for the release of the new version, admins told february and I told people to expect in april or may (which shows I am clearly right) the admin threatened to kick me from forum... I am not trolling or anything, I am simply sharing my thoughts.
