We are happy to announce that Vesta is back under active development as of 25 February 2024. We are working on v1 candidate and expect to engage more with the community over the coming months. We are committed to open source, and we encourage contributors to help us build the future of Vesta.
VestaCP is dead?
Re: VestaCP is dead?
Yes I think the VestaCP is being administered in the right way.
This type of topic discourages any developer. It's not helping anything.
Report bugs and help other users is definitely a good start. I see the need to help the vestacp and have more developers.
I am a part of the SMF Forum (simplemachines.org). It's been more than two years since I released a new version of the Forum. And yet I see several helping programmers as you can in the development of the new version.
Here three months ago that doesn't have an update, and I see this guys complaining.
This is just the beginning. The Vestacp and this Forum promises to grow much. More has to take a break, programming and fixing bugs is not easy and not fast as you think.

Re: VestaCP is dead?
Well i don't see it that way: github is not being authored, changelog/roadmap not being updated, there is no clear future as developers consist of only small team from non English speaking country.dsystem wrote:Yes I think the VestaCP is being administered in the right way.

I don't agree that this topic doesn't help anybody... I believe most of us wants to be sure this panel will receive updates and won't become paid, closed source product. Topics like this get answers from developers, and joins people who in case of dead project could revive the project.
Please do not compare SMF which is far more complete, Vesta is still immature, with many open bugs and missing features / documentation. At this stage frequent releases is a must. Also compare the damage if someone takes over forum or whole server due to bugs.
I am developer myself, and i know what it takes. What i am worried about is that forum and bug tracker doesn't have enough people to administer, one Imperio is not able to keep everything under control. I fix my servers myself, and report bugs to get them fixed for everyone.
I guess we will see how it goes with the release of the paid version. Vesta is a great panel as idea, i only hope it will get better.
Re: VestaCP is dead?
Free version will be with open source code
Paid version also will be with open source code
Now we are working with new features on our test servers, so you cant see new code on github
You are right. We need people in technical support

Re: VestaCP is dead?
A language specific forum would be nice.

I am a developer also and agree with Sim. We aren't some noob that just complains because we can't figure out whats going on.
If you need help like I said before in other posts, I would be glad to give VestaCP team my resume so I can help administer either the forums or bug report page.
I'm going to push some updates today and hopefully we can make this a great project.
We really need to get rid of all the spam on the forums I think we should stick with a limited language forum so we don't have to manage so many languages.

Should we still do pull requests or should we wait for the new version? I have a ton of fixes and new features to submit.imperio wrote:Now we are working with new features on our test servers, so you cant see new code on github.

Re: VestaCP is dead?
Yes it seems like vesta project is going to end, no updates and implementation according to road map, vesta is very good panel but i have now switched to ispconf due to its nginx fpm support. Vesta consumes so much ram after its last update and nginx phpfpm version hasnt been out yet. Wish this project updates and keep continue
