VestaCP cluster

I'd like to have the following servers:
1x NGINX/Apache
1x MySQL
1x Mail
2x DNS
Optionally, I'd like VestaCP control panel to be somewhere else too.

When I install VestaCP on a node it installs all the services - how do we have a clustered set up without the bloat? Does VestaCP need to be installed on all servers?

Yep, there is no such thing like cluster in VestaCP yet.
New version can give you options, what to install on server (mysql or apache or nginx or CP)

Does that mean that future development versions will have optional install features? I also find that vesta is too overloaded for my requirements and looking to modify install scripts. I'd be interested in seeing the default services trimmed down and have them loaded as modules only when requested to be installed.

You can choose, what you want to install -> http://vestacp.com/#install
There is Advanced Install Settings

I must have missed the Advanced Install Settings. The default installer had a set of packaged items and when the script noted an 'admin' group already existed, it required a --force option to push forward. That might have disabled the advanced settings. I'll retest though in case i am mistaken.
