change hostname of vestacp

Post by uma1r » Sun Oct 02, 2016 4:28 am

Hi there,

When I installed vestacp on my Centos.. I picked the hostname as 'vesta.mysite.com'... I installed wordpress on that..
Now all the emails (using mailgun stmp) that wordpress sends, it shows my email as "[email protected]".

I am not using this subdomain. I dont even have anything on subdomain or a subdomain.. All the wordpress installation and everything in on my main domain.. I want everything on my main domain (e.g. on mysite.com)...

So, how do I change hostname from "vesta.mysite.com" to just "mysite.com", without hurting anything on my server.
I'd appreciate you help

sincere regards

I think you can change the from email in your smtp settings from mailgun.

You can change your hostname just by running:
hostname mysite.com

You also need to set/change your Reverse DNS record!

Hi,

I ran 'hostname' command and I see the hosting is already mysite.com..
So, what could be possibly the reason for that..

I am confused because I am 100% sure that I put vesta.mysite.com in hostname when I installed.. That's why from email is shown as '[email protected]'... However, in hostname command when I run, it just shows mysite.com.

You can use WebGui to do this
Server -> circle with gear -> Hostname
