Awstats add historical data

So I've just been playing with this and didn't really get anywhere, so I wondered if anyone else had figured this one out. I recently activated awstats for a domain that's been on the server for over a year. It started producing stats from the time I enabled it, which is fine. But I have a year's worth of logfiles on the server, so I wanted to see if I could get it to fill in the historical data too.
  • I unzipped and concatenated all the logfiles for the domain into one large file in the right order. domain.com.concat.log
  • I altered the config file in /home/admin/conf/web/awstats.domain.com.conf to point to this log file (temporarily).
  • Then I ran v-update-web-domain-stat admin domain.com
This didn't change anything. So I dug around in the v-update-web-domain-stat script, made a copy of it, and tried changing the month variable to previous months. That destroyed all the data, but running v-update-web-domain-stat admin domain.com brought it back again.

Anyone managed to figure this one out?
