Which IP to use?
Which IP to use?
Hi all.
I have a VPS with leaseweb and am using Vesta for the first time.
The VPS has a public IP of (for example) 1.2.3.4 which is NAT to an internal IP of 6.7.8.9 in the IP page on Vesta.
I can log in to 1.2.3.4:8083 no problem.
I registered a new domain to use as ns1 and ns2 and have set 1.2.3.4 as the A and NS records.
When adding the new domain to vestacp, the IP shows as 6.7.8.9 which I cannot change.
Once I had set this domain up, I was able to access the default holding page for the domain ok - all good.
But, I am now wondering if I should be adding A records for this domain and subsequent additional domains as 1.2.3.4 or 6.7.8.9? Or, do I add a new domain and then add custom nameservers to ns1.newdomain.com and ns2.newdomain.com?
I have temporarily added my domain using 6.7.8.9 to my laptop hosts file, but just arrive at a 404 page, which I can't seem to find where it is loading.
(the real reason I started down this path was that I could not get SSL to work and was wondering if it was because the A record on the domain is different to the internal IP?)
Stay safe, now go and wash your hands.
