Softaculous cron question

I realize that Softaculous helps fund this project, however I have an older server where I wanted to turn off Softaculous completely until we get migrated over to newer equipment.

I guess my issue is that there's still an active cron job that runs at: /usr/local/vesta/softaculous/cron.php

The cron crashed our server this morning. Is there any harm in taking this cron offline manually?

... and why do we have crons like this doing system maintenance on Vesta that don't appear in the cron area of the admin panel? All for software shipped with Vesta should be there.

If softaculous is turned off in the admin server settings, why are there still a cron running for it anyway?

Thanks!
