web Aliases
Just started using Vesta and it's truly amazing giving me at long last the ability to multi site host with working pop email. I've been trying all the others and this is first one that works. Love the CP which I find very user friendly.
However I am having difficulty in understand what the WEB aliases does.
I'm trying to park some domains under mydomain.com as follows---
mydomain.com
---- mydomain.com.nz and
---- myotherdomain.com.
I'm used to using cPanel which has the parking facility upfront.
I believe that I could create them as websites with DNS and then using ,htaccess 301 redirects to mydomain.com.
However I see the aliases fields and wonder if this is a possibility to make life easier. I've already tried to add the parked domains in the aliases field but seems to have no effect.
Any help or pointers in this area would be greatly appreciated.

Re: web Aliases
Update....
On rechecking my registration records I realized that I have used the dns address for the main site.
I therefore set individual basic dns records in OceanDigital for each of the "parked" domains. I believe this then allows the Aliases to operate which they are now doing,I think my problem was exacerbated by the fact that this domain registrar offers no DNS facility.

UPDATE..
I now realize that the alias allows parked access to the main website as without it the default page will open.
I also now realize that making an alias will create it's own dns record.
I'm beginning to realize my lack of knowledge combined with lack of real in-depth documentation in this area is making life very hard for the non-expert guys

Re: web Aliases
Fixed.
I now only use the default WWW alias.
All other parked domains held on a single separate host and 301'd to the relevant Vesta domain.
No Vesta setup required.
Vesta is a great CP and maybe when there is better supporting documentation I'll re-visit this requirement.
