PHP Not Functioning Properly

Hi! I am currently using Vesta server with about 18 people who are hosting websites. I am having problems with PHP working properly.

In the Control panel in the Services tab, everything is running properly. Vesta is updated to the latest version. I have a few things:

1) If any website's Apache template is set to "phpcgi" it causes every site hosted on the server to give a 502 Bad Gateway error. This is not good because one person could cause the whole server not to function. My question is, what exactly are the differences in the Apache Templates? How could I fix this problem?

2) If I write proper PHP code into an index.html file on my site, the PHP code will not appear but appears as you see it now at http://test.gwidde.org in which it's interpreted incorrectly. I am starting to wonder if PHP is working at all, how can I check if PHP is running?

If I could find a way to fix those two problems that would be splendid! Thank you.
