[SOLUTION] All mails go to SPAM (gmail)
[SOLUTION] All mails go to SPAM (gmail)
Hi,
So, I spent 2 days now, installing trying out other providers with new fresh IPs...
I set up every other "recommended" dns records... but still... even the mail header says that spf dkim etc... PASSES, but nothing.
But here comes the solution... I really like ubuntu but in this case: throw ubuntu 14.04 out of the window... seriously.
Even at digitalocean, vultr, linode, scaleway, amazon ec... mails kept going to spam.
On every single server I shredded the OS, and installed mailinabox. Worked like a charm, every mail even with invalid spf and dkim, every mail arrived to gmail inbox.
So... as I was really tired I got this idea... what the hell, give CentOS a try.
Installed it, installed vestacp... and it just works... even with a fake domain with (of course) wrong spf dkim... the emails arrive to inbox.
I don't know whats wrong with the ubuntu setup, but it definitely solved this problem. Exim version is 4.82 with ubuntu, and 4.84_2 with CentOS.

Re: [SOLUTION] All mails go to SPAM (gmail)
Thanks for your observations.
You can install Exim new version from Debian Backports on Debian.
But,
Email Delivery is much more complicated than just using the new version of MTA. DKIM/SPF/rDNS are very very important... you cannot use MTA reliably without them. Feedback loops and Sender Verification and reputation is also important if sending out newsletters and bulk email... not to miss continuous monitoring of your domain/IP at RBLs and Spamhaus. You also have to keep a tight watch on your Mailing list for hard and soft bounces and keep list cleaned.
