Hello.

I installed the VestaCP server management package on Ubuntu Server 16.04.
Website works. FTP works. There are problems with mail.
Mail coming out via webmail works - comes out and is delivered.
Incoming mail unfortunately does not work. Mail does not arrive.

What do I need to check ??

Please suggest.

Now I have the situation that after sending an email to the domain configured on VESTACP I get the answer:

Code: Select all

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

  [email protected]
all relevant MX records point to non-existent hosts

Hello, can you post you result on this page: https://www.checktls.com/perl/live/TestReceiver.pl
Put some existing email on the server and tell us the results.

I have the same problem, and I think it's SSL certificate problem, something with the vesta panel.

CERT VALIDATION ERROR
EXPIRED Certificate 1 of 1 in chain:

in the test.

Does your domain have SSL certificate?

Hi, I do have Let Encrypt but it seems to be fine, this is my TLS out put message I get:

Trying TLS on mail.domain.com.au[m.y.I.P] (10):
seconds test stage and result
[030.034] Cannot connect to server (reason: Connection timed out)

I'm using my domain providers DNS service to point my mx record. can someone confirm how the mx record should look at the moment mine is:

Name Type Priority TTL Address
domain.com.au. mx 10 3600 mail.domain.com.au

When I try to ping mail.domain.com.au from CMD I do get a response.

>ping mail.mobotech.com.au
Pinging mail.domain.com.au [216.45.55.225] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from m.y.I.P: bytes=32 time=198ms TTL=58
Reply from m.y.I.P: bytes=32 time=193ms TTL=58
Reply from m.y.I.P: bytes=32 time=191ms TTL=58
Reply from m.y.I.P: bytes=32 time=202ms TTL=58

Ok so after investigating I found that my set up was all correct but on my VPS provider side they had port blocks on their end which I cannot see. They opened the SMTP ports and mail started to flow.

This has taken me a month of rebuilding and researching and questioning my myself even thinking screw it I'll just pay for a mail server. Now everything is working for me, hope the original poster has figured his issue out too if not maybe his VPS provider might have ports blocked too.
