Hi,
maybe it's embarassing or I am just to stuboorn I dont know why the email set up is so unclear in Vestacp.
When I add an email, I want to use the given settings in thunderbird and none of them Work.
After a hardware problem I recovered the server without having a vesta backup (just my own tar backup) because the backup menu was missing and no backup worked.
So no email settings were take only the webfolders and databases I had.
So, in Thunderbird the email box is set up, just waiting to get new credentials.
I see the new option of a dropdown to use server or domain as hostname (which makes so little sense to me, why should I want "myhostname" as server, without any gTLD used?)
Username: [email protected]
Password:
IMAP hostname: legalmaterial.de
IMAP port: 143
IMAP security: STARTTLS
IMAP auth method: Normal password
SMTP hostname: legalmaterial.de
SMTP port: 587
SMTP security: STARTTLS
SMTP auth method: Normal password
When I do a setup with smtp and imap using it like this it will never connect.
In fact, I can now use ANY combination and it will never connect.
But to be true this is not the frist time that I dont understand the vestacp set up process.
Kindly help
Andre
