Receive emails problem

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with the receptions of emails.. if I close the port 25 on the firewall, no more emails came into a mailbox.. even if the ports 110,993,143,995 are opened.. But, if I open the port 25 again, those mails start to came into normally again... Why its happen?

The port 25/tcp is essential for the SMTP service to work.
