How to properly setup mail?

Hi all,

I am new to Vesta so please forgive any ignorance.

I am running a Ubuntu 14.04 VPS and wish to operate an email server using Vesta.

I am going to operate email and www (not using Vesta) traffic on separate servers.

I have a few questions...

1) Once Vesta is installed, I can add a domain for email. I found that sending out email is no problem. However, receiving email is where I am lost. How do I set this up?

2) What records do I need to add to my DNS records for my domains with my domain provider?

3) Will these records conflict with Vesta's own generated DNS records?

4) What sort of server does Vesta operate? POP/SMTP, IMAP? How do I configure DNS to work with this?

It's worth mentioning that my DNS is currently aimed at www traffic on another server so any additions to the zone file will have to explicitly point to the domain/IP address of my Vesta install.

Thank you!

This might be a good opportunity to put some documentation together as well?
