Roundcube 1.0.3 update in Vestacp
Roundcube 1.0.3 update in Vestacp
Hi guys,
I have searched a lot on the web on how to update Roundcube properly to the newest version (ex. Roundcube v1.0.3), but I didn't have any luck with any "solid" solution.
As I read through the subjects in various forums, it looks like the Vesta Team haven't got to that point yet as they are still including an old version of Roundcube in their script. (correct me if I'm wrong)
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Could someone that have some experience in this tell how to upgrade it properly in steps and what files to change when re-installed the newer version etc.?
"Maybe someone that have done this before and succeeded".
Any help is appreciated.
Anyone?

Re: Roundcube 1.0.3 update in Vestacp
Well, I am using Debian 7 and I just ditched the whole roundcube from the debian repositories. Instead I created a subdomain under the admin user in Vesta CP and set up SSL (which is of course optional), downloaded roundcube from their website and just unzipped and installed it (by using the provided web installer).
You have many advantages that way: Your clients MUST use SSL on YOUR specified subdomain (no <client-site.com>/webmail anymore, which is another bonus for crawling bots) and it is just easier to maintain (I subscribed to their mailing list for any updates and such).
This method puts you in control, instead of the default debian packages and their version releases (hence, even wheezy-backports doesn't package the latest (1.0.1 or .2), but they only provide (0.9.5) ).
That's how I did it and I really like how it's set up this way. You can also edit the virtualhost file from that subdomain. I did the same with phpmyadmin and phppgadmin. Works really good. Now I have purchased one SSL certificate for app.mydomain.com and clients can access stuff only on SSL and only on that subdomain (app.mydomain.com/webmail).
Just don't forget to update the vestaCP links in the template files.
If you want to go this way (which I suggest you should :) ) and need more info (like vestaCP file locations), please don't hesitate to ask.
Hope this helps.
