Network Solutions and DNS - URGENT
Hi,
I installed a Droplet in DigitalOcean, installed Ubuntu 14.04, and VestaCp. After creating the WEB records (my domain), I created the DNS entries (I only have ONE IP address, and used the same for both NS1.xxx and NS2.xxx). Then I went to NetSol's control panel to point the domain to my new DNS addresses, but NetSol says that I cannot use the same IP address in both NS1 and NS2..., and I'm forces to have 2 entries. A few weeks ago, did the same with GoDaddy and it worked... Can anyone help me out?
Thanks,
Raul

Hi there,
Some domain name providers will make you specify atleast two Nameservers,
If you wish to setup a second name server to overcome this issue see the documentation.
Thanks, Liam.

Hi!
Setting up only one name server is not safe for production because of DNS propogation. If you name servers go down, that status would be propagated and the domain would be inaccessible for a long time. (also while it's timing out it's locking ram and processing power all over the world on different name servers)
I recommend purchasing a second VPS that is very cheap, install Vesta and set up a DNS Cluster (documentation). Some providers give you a 0.75GB VPS for 1.75$ a month.
