added subdomain doesn't work
added subdomain doesn't work
Hi, I have troubles with my subdomain.
I have a VPS server and Vesta CP on it. My maindomain.com works fine.
I followed the next steps to add a subdomain "i.maindomain.com":
1). Created a new domain "i.maindomain.com" in Vesta > WEB
2). For "maindomain.com" I added A record "i" pointing to the server IP
3). Restarted the server
I cannot even ping "i.maindomain.com"
I also tried to create CNAME record "i" and A record "www.i", but with no success.
Any advice is really appreciated.

Re: added subdomain doesn't work
ok, will ask it in a different way
What the files should I review to check the DNS settings for my subdomain?
Also do I need to use my own Name Servers? Currently I'm using 1&1 name servers

Re: added subdomain doesn't work
I found the reason.
I registered my main domain with 1and1 and use their name servers, so I just created a subdomain in domain admin panel and everything works now. I suppose another solution is to use own name servers.
