repairing network service after a bad GNOME install

hoping someone here can help me...

so I tried to install GNOME on a low resource remote VPS that was running VESTA successfully and I managed to nuke both the boot and the network service. the only way I have to login now is to use the hosting company "Secure Shell" widget to get at a root CLI.

my problem is that since the network isn't working, I have no way to copy off the VESTA backup files that exist only on the server in the /home/backup dir!

running `systemctl` give me a list of failed boot services such as..
'RPC Pipe File System'
'ABRT coredump hook'
'Security Auditing Service'
'Apache HTTP Server'
'LSB: Bring up/down networking' <-- this is network.service
and about 9 others

I guess what I am really looking for is a quick (and dirty if need be) way to bring up networking so i can grab the backup files and then just do a REBUILD SYSTEM and start over.

advTHANKSance,
- mark
