I created a new user in the Admin of Centos 07 so that I could get access to the configuration files via SFTP.

But now I am unable to gain access to my normal website files via normal FTP.

What hava I done wrong ?

You lost access to FTP in all users ?

Paste here /etc/shells

And extract of /etc/passwd ( users who cant access )

Thanks for the feedback 'skamasle' but I got onto my webhost to reset my usernames and passwords.
Now I have FTP on one name and password, and SFTP on another.

I am very new to this situation of VPS / Centos / Vesta.

No doubt I will be posting here again soon.

FTP and SFTP are 2 diferent things

FTP is one daemon and SFTP is SSH over FTP

You need take care about some thing and is than only system users can access to SSH / SFTP if have bash / sh or orther shell enable

So, if you have vesta user ( like admin, othervestauser etc ) they can access to SFTP

But if you inside admin, create new FTP user, this user will access only to FTP, this secondary user inside admin not have SSH access.

Is diferent, create vesta user and aditional FTP account, aditional FTP account is just that, this account cant access to SSH / SFTP

I think thats your problem
